I'm thinking about buying a shifter, but really know NOTHING about them.
I want a shorter throw and to get rid of that "no where land" inbetween 3rd and 5th.
Any input from Experienced Vette owners appreciated!

Hi, from the south shore, most of us have the B&M and it's fine, the royal purple that I installed made more of an improvement IMO. Stop down at captree on sunday mornings and say Hi. Remember the shifter does little more than ack as a piviot point, it has no gates or stops. To fix 3-5 issue just press stright up using the palm of your hand and it will center and find 3rd, it's when you try to guide it the it finds no where land
Which does have a shorter throw than the shifter in the base car which Im assuming everybody knows? The op did indicate he wanted shorter throws as well...
I just installed the short throw shifter from Breathless Performance Products in Dania Florida. It is AWESOME! The 2-3 shift is a breeze and you don't think about it. I highly recommend it.

I like my Hurst Short throw shifter, and yes, it does reduce shift times.
yes, working on faster hand-leg coordination to reduce the shift time helps but if you don't have to move the shifter as far it won't take as long to get into the next gear.

Thanks, man....thats what I do, the palm and straight up method. Same on my c4.
I;ll see you down at Captree....sunday mornings, right?
A short-throw shifter will not give faster shifts. Shift speed is governed by leg-speed rather than hand-speed.
Missed shift generally result from lack of practice and improper hand position on the shifter.
Modding the driver will yield better results than just changing the shifter.
Just a thought.

Ranger,
I rarely miss a gear.....not looking for better results....I want a shifter for fun, not performance and a shorter throw for traffic, + street driving
but thanks anyway

Thx, I know you work the inpossable..........
How the hell are you running those times w/ a stock car......... I dont care how technical you get. Even the engineers at Chevy say it just doesn't have it in her.............. common, ehat did you do, really?.....FESS UP BRO LOL
I have the MTI 6 shooter and am extremly happy with the accuracy and feel of this shifter. Just be sure the **** is very secure to eliminate the dreaded buzz. I did take the advice of another forum member and wrapped the threads with teflon tape and used loc-tite on the torx screw that holds the shifter **** on. Do a search on this shifter and I think you'll find nobody has a bad thing to say about it
