I installed a set of Magnaflow 14336's several months ago and reused the stock resonated tips. I am very happy with the results but the stock tips are starting to look like crap (actually they never looked that good new) and I am contemplating replacing them with a set of stainless steel Magnaflow 3" dual outlet tips. These tips are not resonated like the stock tips and have a larger diameter outlet.
What would be the expected effect be on the sound/tone of the mufflers with the new tips installed? I was told the perforated design of the stock tips was there to eliminate an exhaust "hiss" rather than eliminating interior drone.
There was a DIY from Pipedreams about improving the look of the exhaust tips if you'd prefer not changing them again.
Yeah, I know he got very good results from his efforts, but mine actually have some small crevices (since new, btw) on two of the tips that no amount of finessing is going to remove.
