Can anyone tell me what type of headers you guys would recommend for a C6 Automatic?

I want to purchase some type of headers for this winter?

You could get:
- Kooks
- LG
- American Racing
- B&B
- Melrose
- Dynatech
- Stainless Works
- others (can't think of them now)

I am ordering Kooks 1 3/4" long tube headers with X-pipe and high flow cats for my A6 this winter.

Thanks. Why did you choose kooks over all of the other options?

I like J.B.A. headers, but Kooks makes a quality header as well

I was deciding between Kooks, American Racing and LG. It seems like these three headers are the most popular and most talked about headers on the forum. I chose Kook's because I heard alot of good things about them and their quality. Here's a clip of a forum member's C6 with Kooks long tubes and B&B Bullets. I currently have Bullets on my car and I am looking foward to my car sounding like this.

Im going to make lots of enemies here but I choose based on price. Truthfully all the major outfits seem to fall into the same ballpark when looking at aggregate user reports of actual dyno numbers between the guys building the top stuff. LG, Kooks, ARH, etc all use good merges, equal length tubing, stainless, nice think flanges, good welding, and so on. It was almost the Kooks from TByrne but then A&A had a little better deal with a group purchase on the American Racing Headers and now they are on the car. Sleeping just fine after the purchase. You should be able to get any of the major brands for somewheres around 1500 shipped. Even the LGs which are typically the most expensive were available installed for 1800 from a local tuner so dont pay list. Remember to factor in tune costs.

I chose Melrose because of overall quality, fitment, and they come jet hot coated from factory. I think you will find that all of the above brands perform well. Good luck!

Granted, there are several excellent brands, however, for my money it had to be LG Pro long tube headers. I was not looking for the cheapest headers, I wanted the quality and performance LGM headers provided.

The following is taken from the LGM web site:

The Torque Monsters of the Corvette World No Corvette Header has more TORQUE or HORSEPOWER
Built by Borla exlusively for LG Motorsports
All Stainless Steel mandrel bent construction using 304 stainless alloy
These headers are true long tubes at 32 inches long
1.75 inch primary tubes, perfect for mild to wild LS engines
Full 3 inch X pipe standard and included
Race style 3inch Merge Collectors for better scavenging
Available 3 inch premium high performance Metal Matrix Catalytic converters (no converter flows more)
Included "off road" pipes for track use
Available with or without Cats
Race proven design makes more low end torque than any other brand, allowing you to have more of your engines power on hand at low RPM while still producing fantastic peak horsepower.
These headers have been tested on idependent dynos by outside experts and show proven increased horsepower and torque over other top brands
Easy bolt on installation with NO CUTTING or WELDING
Great fit and finish with no ground clearance issues
Note: Long Tube Headers are not CARB certified

I went the extra step and had my LGM headers coated. They fit well, sound great and my modified C6 performs exceptionally well.
