I found the car you're looking at on eBay. From the pics, based on the tires, it looks like a non-Z51 car that has had drilled rotors installed, maybe when they installed the Flowmasters.
It's a good deal at the current price, but the reserve hasn't been met yet.
Thank you all, for all that info! Much appreciated. While I'm waiting for the salesman's reply, can I ask a question regarding warranties? Does anyone know anything about factory warranty for Canadians who import used vettes to Canada? I got the impression that if the car is still under warranty, and some work is required, a Canadian owner could drive (if it's still mobile) the car back across the border and that the Chevy dealer will honor the warranty work. I hope that's the case. I've emailed GM USA, but received no anwers. Thanks in advance.
Im going through the same problem and i realy want to make sure it has close ratio tranny i do I tell because i dont see it in the code list. I dont see the MZ6 tranny option or is it included with the
z51?????
While the MZ6 is only available on the Z51 it will be listed on the glove box sticker. Actually it will show both MN6 and MZ6 on the sticker. The main thing to look for is the Z51 option code. If it has that and is a six speed manual it will have the MZ6.
No sir, that picture (in the link you provided) is the noraml "F-1 EMT All Season" Badyear tire which is standard with base (Non-Z-51) suspension.
When I upgraded the brake rotors in my '06 Z-51 MN6 to Baer Eradispeed, fancy option, I installed the cross drilled Z-51 rotors in my '07 A6 and the wheel/rotor/tire photos look like the image in the link.
That's the scoop, re that issue.
As stated by the other bretheren, MZ6, wide ratio tranny is part of the Z-51 goulash.
Technically speaking, the MZ6 is the "wide ratio" transmission...the lower the first gear ratio, the wider the gear ratio jumps have to be to reach 1:1 in fourth gear.
It's ironic that the "close ratio" transmissions have the reputation for being performance transmissions, but it's always been the "wide ratio" transmissions that delivered torque multiplication in the lowest gears. They were required equipment back in the day if you had AC and a manual tranny on a base engine car.
MZ6 is not a stand alone option...if you want MZ6, you have to get Z51.
This performance ratio transmission is only available with the Z51 option.
