Yay I've been promoted to Major in the AirForce. I won't pin on till the summer but I think I will buy myself some presents. 150 wet shot, DRs, a cage and a lightened valvetrain. I'll let you all know how it goes.
I'm prior enlisted so I knows where I came from! Most of the guys that know me can attest to that.
I like what I do, its a good job I can go home and feel pretty good about. I probably make a fraction of what the rest of you guys get but hey, it's a living.
On a tech note, the car is getting a C5 rear installed and some bigger injectors as we speak. So I'll have some dyno numbers soon. Then, I get to dump a bunch more parts in her.
Im in an NAS town so all my neighbors fly for the navy. We had a fellow in the house next door for three years who was air force flying temperarily with the navy. He was thinking of getting out and hitting the airlines but stayed in when he made the thunderbirds. Where this is leading is he says to me "Well Im staying in cause I made the thunderbirds.". I say "Thunderbirds, never heard of it?" Look on his face was as the overused saying goes, priceless. Of course I know exactly what he was talking about but ya just gotta bust some *****... Litttle inter-service rivalry there, anyhow, congrats on the promotion.
Now you get to start training to become the third assistant deputy horse holder!
Too senior to be a line unit commander and far too junior to be given command of a squadron. Staff weenies' hell! However, this to shall pass and one day you will be called Colonel.
Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt - just in time to have the uniform board declare it obsolete and mandate a new style!

So this one guy was AF when all the rest was Navy? I didn't think Navy guys flew with the Thunderbirds. Blue Angels are their bailiwick?

Congrats! I always thought "Mustangs" made the best officers. Once again congrats and thanks for serving your country.

Yes, I should have said that of course. The air force guys apparently get sent over to fly with the navy guys now and then. I dont know why, the guys here can eleborate on that. Around here OUR guys are of course the blue angles. I better go and edit that one.

You have my utmost respect and thanks sir for your service. One of my best friends and college buddy was a Major in the Army (Desert Storm) and I learned a lot from him. Matter of fact I have my Vette because of him, may he RIP. Life is too short to die before you have a Vette like he did!
Thank you all! Hell, I might like being the second horse holder....
Major (or in your case Captain (select)) the first thing that a staff officer needs is the ability to listen and regurgitate what his superiors have said. I said you would be the third assistant deputy horse holder . . . not the second.
One thing that you do have to look forward to is that your next promotion will be in a shorter time frame from when you put those railroad tracks on.
