I can get a C5 console & shifter out in my sleep
Did a search but couldn't find a write up for the c6
Need a link please, does the shift **** just unscrew?

only pic i could find... one screw on side of **** to remove... and pull off....

I did this install a couple of months ago. Be careful with the switch for the stability/traction control. The wires want to pull out of the back of the switch while you are trying to unplug it and then you have to go get a new switch, but dealers don't stock them.

lager99 did a diy for the hurst shifter and provided pics. etc. it's in the c6 faq thread.
the stock shifter **** has a hex head screw in the side that holds the **** on.
