Or perhaps the maf isn't seated fully causing an air leak before or after it, that can happen. You can get a code reader/clearer for $69 at Walmart that will pinpoint the problem. Actually it will give you the code and you can search here for what the code is. I bought one and carry it with me in the rear cubby, it's been very handy not just for me but for other folks as well from time to time.

Alot of pieces need to move just a little bit. Be patient and it will get there!

basically, imo, the more of a pita it is the better it fits.

Does it really matter if you butcher up the stock shroud? I don't see why it would. I cut my stock shroud soooooo wrong that I have about 3" extra in every direction. The intake works fine but looks less then appealing so I ordered a pre-cut shroud. I'm still waiting to put it on.

I used two couplers from http://www.extremepsi.com/store/cust...me.php?cat=772

One is a 3" HTS 4-ply 3.75" to 4.00" reducer that attaches to the throttle body. The other is a 3" HTS 3-ply 3.75" that goes between the Vararam and the mass airflow sensor.
Good service.

Thanks for posting fellas. I installed a vararam on my 02 Z06 by myself and a friend wants me to do one on his C6. This thread is just what I was looking for, thanks again

I've done both - and I'd be able to do 3 C6's in the time to do 1 C5 and I wouldn't get my hands all cut up on the C6's! I think C6's are a piece of cake - if you don't try to take the shroud out. C5's are a bear IIRC.

I installed the vararam and spacer yesterday on my C6. It took me 2 hours and two call's to tech support, just to double check on instructions to ease my mind, and I LOVE IT. The instructions could be better for sure. I removed the shroud before cutting and I have auto temp control so I had the extra sensor to get out and getting that out was a biotch. If I had the right tool it would have been a breeze.
I could do one in about 1 hour now.
