Default New 2008 C6 Corvette

I am new to this forum. I have only owned European sports cars in the past even though I've always wanted a Corvette. I was really looking forward to buying my first Corvette next month, but after seeing posts about the new '08 C6 getting a bump in horse power and an improvement in interior quality, I'm wondering if I should wait.

When do the dealers actually start taking orders on the new model year and when do they get delivered? In other words how much longer would I have to wait?

Thanks

Production of the 2008 will start in late June of 2007. Delivery to dealers in mid to late July to Aug of 2007.

Some dealers have their allotment held untill they clear their sales lots of 2007s.

Edited.

Thanks, but did you mean delivery in late July - Aug of 2007, rather than July-Aug 2008? I see dealers advertising 2007 Vettes in current inventory now, and I figured Sept-Oct 2007 was the norm for 2008 models to hit the showrooms? July - Aug 2007 would be great news.

For Corvette's it is July-Aug ... but by April-May we should know what changes are going to be made, which can help you make your decision ..

Interior quality is pretty darn good right now, not sure if they're planning on actually improving it by much or maybe just adding a few minor color and trim options to spice it up a bit more.
Either way there appear to be some nice changes/minor upgrades coming but I'm still not sure if I would wait and possibly miss out on the next 6-8 months of driving without a Corvette, especially one (current 2007) that could be potentially cheaper than that 2008.

You make several good points. As it will not be my daily driver I figure I'd miss 5 months (March-Aug) of fun with it. I just moved back to New York from Southern California. I have a much shorter driving season back here. If I don't get it until August I'd only have about 3.5 months and then I have to just stare at it in the garage. And the savings on buying an '07 should buy me enough fun aftermarket mods.

If I buy the '07 and do the mods to get more HP won't that create a problem, void my waranty?

Not all mods will void a warranty and not all dealers are going to be that strict about certain mods as well.
Though nothing is confirmed yet, it likely will not take that much to get an '07 to run with (and even right past) an '08 either.

Just what are the improvements and differences on the 2008 vs. the 2005 C-6?

You can get a great deal on the 07 now, if the 08 has a HP bump expect to pay MSRP for a while

I spoke with a friend of mine who owns a Dodge Viper. He had some performance mods done at a Viper specialst. He told me to check with Chevy/GM because the manufacturers usually have a list of shops authorized to do performance mods work where the waranty will not be effected. That was the case with Dodge.

Word has it on this site and others that the HP will go up to at least 425 and possibly 450. And that the interior quality will be improved. The quality of materials and workmanship have kept me away from GM up until now. I've always wanted a Corvette but ended up buying European sports cars instead because I was skeptical about GM quality. I think the Vette is the exception to the quality issues at GM. I own a Porsche Boxster S now which I love. The car is awesome, but it lacks the raw power & torque (the *****) that the Vette has. And of course I've always wanted a Vette.

How do you like the Automatic 6 speed? I'm getting tired of shifting especially in traffic. But I'm worried about losing some of the fun in the Vette if I get the Auto.
