Default Ls2 Intake

I think i have read that a ported stock ls2 intake is better bang for the buck than the a/m intakes out there. So i have a few questions

1. is this true?
2. how much does a stock intake go for?
3. how much does it cost to port?
4. Is it worth the mod w/ CAI, HEADERS & HI FLO Cats only?

My car puts out 400 rwhp and 397 rwtq with headers, CAI, stock ported intake by Corey Harris and a tune at A&A corvette. I can't tell you what the intake alone is worth, but since I see a lot of dyno charts with headers ranging from 380 to 390 my guess is it is worth about 10 to 12 ponies. I think the cost is less than 200 bucks. I think it is well worth it.

I have a Cory Harris ported intake and throttle body, thats my only
mod so far.

I am happy with it on my car, better throttle response and I picked
up about 3MPG on the highway (I think my car was running a little
rich before).

Google for "Corey Harris LS2"

He is a good guy and does great work on the parts.

I had my intake ported and gained 15/rwhp and 15/rwtq. Cost was $225.00.

ok so the purpose of porting the intake is to enlarge the whole where the intake meets the head. is it a safe assumption that there is signifigant differance in the stock intake whole vs the head?

It's probably more about smoothing transitions and radiuses (radii?) , removing the parting lines and dingleberries from the molding process than it it about port matching. Just a guess though.

I picked up 7.2 HP/11.1 TQ by adding an intake done by Cory Harris, after similar mods had been done. (profile). http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1517771

I was a bit surprised at the roughness of the stock intake at the throat and the ports.

I bought a ported intake from a member on this site. Peak gains were not impressive, I think 4rwhp and 7rwtq SAE. However, the mid range gains were decent, up to 12rwhp/tq on average from 3-5000rpm. Not great but it is what it is.
