Default LT headers question

I live in California and I hear about so many members here having Long Tube Headers and I was wondering if these are smog legal here in California? If not, how do I get around it. Also, will having long tubes void my warranty?

No they are not smog legal. You take your chances with the physical inspection, with a tune the car will meet smog requirements as measured out the tailpipes. They won't void the warranty, dealers might give a hard time or not. Paradise chevy in Ventura has done a couple of warranty repairs including cluthpack replacement on mine and the only thing they said was the headers sound good. Where is Daly City?

Daly City borders San Francisco to the south. So basicly since it wont pass a visual inspection I would have to re-install the stock exhaust manifold? Since so many ppl here have them I did'nt think there was a smog issue,I guess I thought wrong..lol

that would be one way. or you could find the local hot rod hang out and ask around, see where everyone else is getting their inspections done.

i currently live in va. and have headers, etc. i just passed my states emissions inspection.

it's not just ca. law that will cause you to fail, it's a federally mandated regulation about moving or replacing the cats. the feds. say you can only replace the cats into the same location. with all the lt headers the cats get relocated, so technically, visually, all of us with lt's fail and are scofflaws.
