Well I need a underhood fuse box cover because mine broke. I have called 9 dealers and the cheapest price I got was $287.00 dollars for the whole fuse box assembly, because GM doesn't sell the lid seperately. Then I called GM Parts House and they told me about part #12160897, but there is no picture or diagram so I am not sure if it's the part I need. And when I called my local dealer to order part#12160897, they said most likely it's not the underhood fuse box lid, but nobody knows because there is no picture on their computers.
I did order GM part #12160897, but it's already been a week and my local dealer still hasn't received the part.
And by the way I called 8 Corvette Salvage Yards and they barely had any C6 Parts. Every single one told me that C6's that are wrecked still sell for a lot of money at auctions, and the people don't part them out yet.
Unfortunately, there is not a separate part number for the cover. The box is sold as a unit. After you use the cover to replace your broken one, you will be able to sell the main box that holds the fuse blocks though.
Well guess what my part came in today. I went to pick it up and it was not the fuse box cover, I knew it was too good to be true. I guess I have to pay $287.00 dollars now.

Get creatitive and make one out of plexiglass, etc. Cut and glue and glue gasket material to seal. Make clips out of stainless, springs, etc. to hold in place. You won't have to worry about shorting with plastic top. Might want to test the plexiglass for heat resistance. I would'n pay $287 for a lid. For temporary, try a turkey cooking plastic bag to cover it while you are making something. The heat won't bother the cooking bag. Good luck!
