Uhhh....Traction Control On/Off.....Active Handling On/Off....Power Brake to 12-1500 RPM? Etc......For those of you who couldnt figure out what I was asking.....
1) Traction control off (active handling, whatever you want, doesn't matter, but some people leave it on in case they hit a slick spot in the track).
2) Do either a long smokey burn out, or with me, I just do what is referred to as a dry hop. I drive around the water box and then just punch it to spin the tires for a second.
3) Put the car in "S" fully automatic (do not use the paddles).
4) Stage and put your left foot on the brake.
5) Both of these work: Either bring up the engine speed to 1200 rpm, then on the last yellow let off the brake and go full throttle at the same time. If it's too cold out I get wheel hop, so then I just put my foot on the brake and let it idle. Then at the last yellow I let off the brake and go full throttle at the same time.
Don't try paddles at the drag strip until very experienced...lol. "S" mode, AH and TC off, long burn out, hold brake and flash to about 1000-1400rpm...and launch. I got wheel hop and an "X" for my paddle shifting trial, and lost a few tenths. Felt like more power, but didn't want to risk the diff.
I have launched like the posts above to go for my best times. If I am bracket racing I launch from idle. I think I am more consistent on my time when I go from idle.
But my technique changes through the year, LOL. If I am having a hard time cutting a good RT, as I am slow, I will slowly adjust my launch rpm to shave time off the RT. I try to stage in the same place all the time.
I have tried about all the different techniques, I think launching 1200 rpms is about as fast as anything I have tried. I get a little tire spin but not much with my DR's and get a better 60 foot with that technique. If I hook hard the car seems to hesitate, not bog but just slight delay.
Have the dealer check for downloads by having him put in your VIN and check for updates. They found a stall and hesitation download for my 06 c6 a6 which really helped and also solved a surging between 500-1500 rpm. The only problem I have once in awhile is a slight hesitation when I let up on the throtle below 30mph and ease down (accelarate) on it. This has been discussed on a few threads and no cure known yet, torque management and engine throttle programs may be interacting with each other at a critical accelerator positioning. Sometimes it makes me quickly curl over the steering wheel and almost want to make you barf if you have a full stomach, like someone putting the brakes on quickly without your knowledge, and you lurch forward.
