Great article on the Vararam intake and spacer in the GM High-Tech Performance magazine in the March 07 addition.
Besides the detailed install guide with every picture you could think of taking while installing it, they gave dyno and track results.
The dyno showed a little increase, but as they stated the pcm probably had not found the new system yet and a run on a dyno will not give the Vararam any ram air effect.
The drag strip was a different story. The average of 3 runs netted a 0.210 ET reduction and 3 mph increase. The ET went from 12.773 (stock intake) to 12.563. The MPH went from 112.06 to 115.06 That is significant for a bolt on mod and especially for the price!
I really don't know of a mod for the that price that would give that great of a result in performance.
Yeah I first saw that about 2 weeks ago (I even made a reference to it in a post here somewhere LOL), those are some notable performance gains for sure.
I wonder if it would show even further gains if the PCM was allowed to learn in (they say it needs a few hundred miles/a few 'start cycles' etc. to really shine) a little more.
I didn't see your post and I will have to talk to GM Tech, I just got my copy and you have had yours for 2 weeks! Thats slow service for us left coasters!!

LOL...at first a friend who gets the magazine (GMHTP is basically the F-body/EFI/LSX motor bible of magazines and we both have Z28s ) called me to tell me about the Vararam/C6 test and the next day I just happened to be in Barnes and Noble and read a little bit there...I think it was almost a full two weeks ago.
My brother also gets it but he didn't let me read it until this past Monday/Tuesday.
