Could use some help with lowering decisions
Here's a couple questions I hope you guys can answer for me:
1) Is that roughly what I'm gonna get without cutting the rubber stop (1/4"), or will it settle more?
2) More importantly, the rear wheel gap is what I think is glaringly off on the stance -- how much do I need to adjust the front down to keep the weight distribution in tact for proper handling? The front air dam is so low already, I'd hate to drop it much at all.
If I can't get the rear much lower with the rubber stop cut out, and the front would have to be slammed to get it to sit properly, I'll probably just move it back up to stock and skip the alignment cost.
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated as I'm kinda stuck till I get more info.
Thanks in advance!!!
and you cut the bottom part (not the whole rubber, just the first bottom part of it - you should see indentations in the rubber - cut at the lowest indentation)
of the rear rubber stops and lower all the way. Going lower than that will be impractical. You can also buy some aftermarket lowering bolts.
To cut the rear rubber stops, you can use a reciprocating saw or the metal wire with two handles used to cut pvc pipes.

the car still has a rake and the gap is gone. of course i am real careful in turning into steep ramps or going down them, I hit it at an angle. Same with road humps.
The front air dam now scrapes, but as others have said, just replace it when it goes, or cut it down first.
GM recommends keeping rake the same for high speed stability. That means lowering the rear the same amount as the front. Also the side to side amount of lowering should be the same.
Do all of us on here follow that? No. Includes me.
