Default More on lifting the C6

I have read many threads on safe lifting and have even purchased the BMW rectangular pucks for the floor lift in case I need it.

My question relates to the manual. On pages 403 to 406 the owners manual discuses lifting the car. It never mentions using a jack on any of the 4 corners where the pucks would go and points to the front and rear cross member areas (spanning two ribs) for locating the jack.

It looks like the outside corners (using the pucks) are only suitable for a floor lift that grabs all 4 corners at once.

So, can you lift one corner of the car at the points near the edge where the pucks would go or do you have to reach in and use the front or rear cross members?

I've lifted mine on the puck points using a floor jack numerous times with no problems. You're lifting a steel beam, so I don't think it can hurt it.

The shop manual does mention using a floor jack with pucks at frame jacking points.

However, the crossmembers remain the preferred location.

Think you are always safer if you lift via the front and rear cross members per the manual, then rest on jackstands at the "puck" points. I would guess Chevy was nervous about telling people to lift with a jack at these points as there is obviously not much room for error and you can possibly damage your rocker panels if you aren't careful.

I think Bugman's website description (http://81x.com/bugman/c6) on lifting the C6 is the best I've seen. HTH.
