Default "Competitive Driving Mode"

:( Does anyone know what changes occur to the C6 when the engine is placed into "competitive driving mode"? How does it differ from "Track system on" or "Track system off"?

thanks

It makes the Ah and traction contol less sensitive
Less apt to take over and will let you spin the tires

Spin the tires all day, the yaw (fishtail) remains active.

Traction control is off and the active handling is in a more relaxed mode allowing more aggressive slip angles (you can hang the tail out farther before it kicks in).

The "performance parameters" are lengthened via algorythems.

Active, but with reduced gains (less sensitive).

Simply put Competitive Mode = TC off, AH remains on but with greater tolerances for sliding sideways (what you want on a road course or for more experienced drivers on a drag strip).

I think more happens with my 07 Z; are others experiencing this?

When I turn on Comp. Mode, I hear a "click" underneath the car and then the exhaust note drops an octave at idle ( 700 rpms ). Also, I hear a constant tick at the back of the car. The moment I turn off Comp mode the tick goes away and the exhaust note becomes civil.

Any info on what is happening would be greatly appreciated.

if car traction is ON, and if I hit the full power from 0.. is this going to damage my car/trac. system?

What the...? I think something else is happening too- put your hash pipe down dude. Sorry, jk.

Seriously, there's gotta be some other explanation for your experience. I just have never heard of Comp D mode doing anything other than shifting gains on the stability control/traction control system. I have an '07 Z51 coupe- no similar noises as what you have... and I LIVE in Competitive Driving Mode.

I hear yah, but everyone hears me also when I come to the condo in Comp D mode. I set off car alarms two nights ago when I pulled into my spot.

I am also perplexed, I have had an 01 Z and an 02 Z which never exhibited this behavior. Bumped into 2 C6 owners today at Starbucks and they also could not believe the difference when Comp D mode was turned on.

But, more importantly, why should I put away the hash pipe - WTF

OK, I'm an idiot and don't laugh too hard, but '07Z means you have a Z06, right? If so, is it possible the CD mode locks the exhaust butterfly valves open regardless of throttle setting? I only have a poor-man's coupe (non-Z06) so I wouldn't know.

[QUOTE=opus1111;1558982877] '07Z means you have a Z06, right? QUOTE]
Hey, pipe down for now Yes, it is an 07 Z06. I thought it was something like the butterfly valves, but I don't really known ( or understand). I have checked some other forums but nothing concrete. I think I need to record the sound tomorrow and post it.

With the Z the exhaust valve opens at a lower rpm in comp mode plus some others with timing and throttle.

That would certainly account for it. Comp mode allows more slip angle with traction control off in both the Z and C6, but will still save you if you do something well out of parameter. To maximize the "competitive" in comp mode, opening the butterfly in the Z06 early would make sense. If they didn't do it, they should. Of course, that would apply to all systems off, too, as that should be the maximum performance state for a experienced driver in the Z.

Might be a feature on the '07s.
