Tell him when he hits 175mph that you might run him, usually you start at 150mph, but in his case 175mph. Maybe he will solve your problem and not want to race when you can do 186mph. Good luck!

I took all the things out of my glove box, trunk, took out floor mats, washer fluid, its their anything else i can do. im not gonna need wieght reduction for this time but maybe the future. And by the way, what the power band for our cars and from what rolls is it strongest?

You forgot to take the extra coolant out of the coolant reservoir, that ought to get you over the hump. Could have put helium in the tires and left the valve caps off. What's wrong with not taking the passenger seat out? Did you run the gas tank down to a quarter tank? Finally, you could have gone on a diet or hired a "twigggy" model to drive. Sounds like a winner to me.

actually, take it down to the 'low fuel' message. if i recall correctly, you should have about 5 gallons of fuel left when the 'low fuel' message appears.

for dragstrip launch lower the air pressure in your rear tires to around 26-28 lbs.

the powerband begins around 3k and begins to fall off around 6k.

keep the rpms around 4500 during your shifts and you will pretty much stay in the powerband.

slightly lift when you depress the clutch and depress the gas pedal as you release the clutch.

if he wants to run from a roll, bring it up to speed in sixth, when it's time to go, downshift into 4th or 3rd, etc. (depends upon what you're rolling from), and punch it.

if you drop it into 4th at 75+mph and keep the rpms in the powerband, you should end up with a pretty nice run.

Default Please, PLEASE just do it!

Go out there ,, find a drag strip,, and spank his little nissan rear. I personally wouldn't try racing him on the street. anyway for the love of my sanity ,, just do it,, I don't think it will matter about all the weight savings,, just focus on your driving,, get her dun sun

That is the 300ZX Twin Turbo. The 350 is the current car; 3.5 L no turbos, about 280 hp.

...Completely. The 350z is nothing special.

Zig, you didn't mean to tell him to shift at 4500 rpm, did you? I find it much better to shift around 6300 rpm.

meant to say, keep the rpms at or above 4500 during the shift, don't let the rpms fall below 4500 at any point. have the rpms at or above 4500 when the clutch pedal is fully released and the gas pedal is depressed, don't let the 'load' on the engine from the new gear pull the engine below 4500. as the load increases and pulls the rpms lower continue to depress the gas pedal to raise the rpms. depress the gas pedal faster than you release the clutch pedal.

edit: when you shift at 6300 rpm what is your rpms when the next gear is engaged, clutch pedal is fully released and gas pedal is being depressed ?

Not stock (or anywhere near close to stock) you haven't. Stock that's a high 13 second car at best. W/the claimed 383 hp, it's probably a high 12, 13 flat car.
