Default Please Help!

I have a 2005 c6 coupe automatic. For over a year now I have been dealing with a problem when I start the car. When I push the ignition button it will turn over a bunch of times before engaging. I have taken it in four times. This last time I kept it there for 2 weeks and of course they said it started just fine while it was there and since they cant duplicate the problem they dont know how to fix it. The second I get the car back it acts up again. Basially I drive it to work, then go out for my break 3 hours later and it will turn over a bunch of times before firing up. When I leave at 5, it does the same thing but even worse. It is completely embarrassing if someone is in the car especially coming out of a movie date and having the car turn over a bunch of times. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I am pulling my hair out in frustration. Thanks much.

If it were me, I'd check 2 things first to see if it were a fuel or electrical problem and pray it was the former. When you are in a situation there is a good likelyhood of the car doing the no-start thing, check fuel pressure and see if there is spark at the plug. The symptoms you describe would indicate a bad fuel pump if this was an ole school car but all bets are off with these things. So, put a fuel pressure gauge on the car and tape it out of the way of moving parts. Drive the car to work and as soon as you shut it off take a look at the pressure. Have a nice day at work and before you start the car, or better yet, have somebody sit in the car and before they turn it on look at the pressure. It should not have dropped much. Then watch the gauge as your assistant tries to start the car. If you get a low pressure reading as its trying to start, then it pumps up and starts, there is your problem. But, **** aint easy so don't count on it. I would then check to see if there is spark at the plug when it won't start. More than likely there will be, but if not then you have a path to explore. If there is spark, I would examine the cam pickup sensor for suspect and the reluctor on the crank, which should both throw codes if goofy if I'm not mistaken. I think you really just need to spend some more time at a shop with logging ability to get the car to fail while they are logging all the parameters. That's way easier then trying to hunt this stuff down yourself with hand tools.

I will explore that. I appreciate your input. Unfortunately my knowlege of the car doesnt go much beyond knowing how to drive it but I will definitely jot down everything you suggested and pass it on to whoever is assisting me with the car..Thanks again.
