Default shifter comparisons........

Does anyone have info on the actual differences in throw between the stock shifter, the Z06 shifter and the Callway or B+M shifters for the C6 ? Thanks in advance .......

The stock shifter and the Z06 shifter are the same except for the bushings. The stock shifter has rubber bushings, the Z06 does not. So the throw is the same although the Z06 shifter feels shorter due to the reduced slop. This is especially noticable in the side-to-side movement.

I think most of the aftermarket shifters are supposed to be about 30% shorter. Some give you a choice of bushings.

The aftermarket shifters provide two things a shorter throw and the 3-4 gate is sprung. So the shifter always finds third (or fourth) if allowed to do so. You're pulling/pushing sideways against spring load to engage either the 1-2 gate or the 5-6 gate. Read this as you'll never miss third by banging between the gates or finding fifth instead. Way better then the stock shifter IMHO.

I just had the Callaway Short Throw Shifter installed in my '06 C6 Z51. To me, the difference is huge in a good way. When first installed, I was nervous with the reallly short throws, that I would miss shifts or lose where I am, but after a couple of rides, I love the short throw because I am no longer missing shifts, as I would do occasionally with the stock shifter. My shifting is now done with much more confidence. Now my shifting is more accurate because I can "feel" the shifts better, and with the extra confidence, I now shift quicker.
