you cant have the best of both worlds.. high way runs, vararam is king.. anything else and I love my LPE with ported intake.. thats a solid 20+whp with both on the dyno.
I had a Vararam but now have a LPE. Had to switch when I got the Maggie. The Vararam won't work with the Maggie. Fit and finish of the LPE are far better than the Maggie or Callaway.

Let us know what you think, based on personal experience, is the best cold air intake system. Dyno runs and actual street results.
Thanks!
Depends on what you mean by "best".
If you are talking strictly performance then its probably the Vararam. But build quality and fit suffer mightily.
If you are looking at all of the tangibles, performance, build quality, fit, underhood appearance, ease of install, price, dependability of airbox seal and hence filtering effectiveness, the Vararam is not such a clear cut winner. in my view.
If I have a front license plate (removeable bracket type that I am not going to remove to be compliant with state law) which cold air intake system is best, or is there one?
MTI was upgrading a Z06 on Dreamcar Garage. They said they found Calloway to be the best.
I dont see how one could choose one over the other callaway vs LPE.. the build quality is superb on both, callaway costs more as the LPE is now about the same as vararam...
be prepare for many different opinion since there are many out there. good luck.
Correct amigo.
Check this one out, and check the price too!:
(other pricing specials are in the works).
Install video also available on the site.
AND it will work with your Maggie or Procharger blower!

They didn't say what others they had evaluated. I think it's continued on the next episode this week. I would have liked to see more. Dyno numbers etc.

I chose the Honker and since it was on back order ended up getting the Xcelerator that looks just like the Honker. I was ready to pull the trigger on the LPE, but then I read that changing the filter was a 2 person job. Removing and cleaning the filter on the Honker or Xcelerator is very easy.
Man, I'm in a big crisis. In the box, in my garage, sits my brand new Vararam, Spacer, and even the precut shroud, now. And I'm really intiminated (really, I'm scared).
I want it on so bad, but don't really feel confident to install it myself. And don't really know or trust a shop to do it. Seen the instructions from the magazine article on "V"'s site, etc. But, it only tells me that I might be a little over my head. What I really want is Steve or Shawn to come do it, or, at least send someone. Only takes the guys who do this day in and day out, about 45 minutes.
Having sent out the cry for help, the general consensus is, you can't beat it.

Did mine last night. Shroud was the only difficult part. I went with the precut shroud as well. The instructions tell you that after removing the fasteners and such the shroud is pulled up and out with a little persuasion. The amount of persuasion was the tough part, but it did come out with some flexing around the lower mounting brackets. The rest of the removal and install was a piece of cake.
