It is 77 degrees here in Illinois this afternoonl, out with top down and notice the outside temp on radio display says 55, Started and stoppped several times and same 55, Any Ideas anyone
the temp sensor system in the vette is a piece of sh-t. It does not give instant readings like most other cars do. Read the manual. It will tell you that the car has to be going at a certain speed for a min amount of time before you will get a reading. If after you meet the "requirements" for a reading and you still get weird #s then time to replace the sensor. Dont ask how I know. LOL
Thanks, I read the manual and now understand. I have not read every page and every paragraph, maby I should. I like the hot vert explaniation better, It is probably the color.
The sensor has been replaced for many members. Mine gives me good readings after about one mile. I leave my house every morning and I get a reading at about the same location every day.
If you've read the manual and think your outside temp. sensor is not working correctly, I'd take to the dealer & get it fixed or replaced. The climate control system does use that outside sensor and the 2 inside sensors to set conditions with the climate control system if you're using the AUTO option.
My temp sensor reading actually stuck at 71 this weekend here in so cal where it was over 85 at least where I am. I made three trips with it this way. Usually the system is very responsive, as soon as I pull out of my garage it starts to adjust, up/down, whatever. To fix the situation I removed both of the HVAC fuses in the right lower fuse block. I did this to clear the HVAC memory and restart it. I reinstalled the fuses after 10 seconds and the system immediately began working properly. The sensor could go bad, but I belive its a simple resistor style sensor and doubt it has failed. Hope this helps.
Mine was stuck a few days ago at 10 degrees Celcius (50 Farhenheit) for a few hours, but when I aggressively hit the freeway's On Ramp, it freed up and since then it has been showing the correct temperature. So, as a result, I can't take it to the Dealer to get it fixed.
No such luck with my '03 Honda Accord - used to work fine when it was new, but now it constantly shows an elevated temperature, or get stuck on occasion.
