Default Suspension Questions

Ok, I was looking at getting a 07 1LT 6sp w/ Z51. Lets say I skip the Z51 & save the $1695.00. What what it cost me to upgrade w/ aftermarket parts to bring the suspension to equal or better performance to the Z51. Some people upgrade their Z51 shocks anyway right? I understand the Z51 comes w/ different brakes but that could be upgraded as well.

In case it makes a difference I will also go with 4.10 gears, ZO6 rear fenders, wider wheels/tires & a head & cam package w/ tune at a later date.

thoughts & opinions please.
thanks in advance,
Lusky

Brakes, shocks, sway bars, trans gearing if a manual and coolers would cost MUCH more than $1695 in parts. + if you swap parts you have no warranty on those parts.

Agree that the Z51 option is a bargain at the price, but the 4.10 gears and wider tires will more than counteract the lack of Z51 manual tranny gearing, and the rest of your mods with a proper tune should make it scream. I assume you are talking strictly suspension. If so, you can add Z06 sway bars for around $220...don't know about shocks. Z06 brakes are relatively expensive and won't fit under the stock wheel wells, so you might want to go with Z51 brakes (or, if you are only looking at suspension and HP gains, maybe you skip the brake upgrade). You might also consider a tunnel plate to stiffen things up for around $200.

Bottom line: with 4.10 gears and Z06 (or Z51, but if you're upgrading, might as well go to the top) shocks and sways, the only thing you will really be missing is the brakes and tranny and p/s oil coolers.

Decisions, decisions, and too many upgrade options to consider before we die. I love it. HTH.

Z51 is not just suspension. It is a package. The package is suspension plus a lot more.
