in general when someone talks on the forum & refer to numbers off a dyno are they refering to "mustang dyno" or regular dyno because they give you dufferent reads & it is often confusing?

I believe that the general consensus is that Mustang dyno's will show lower HP & torque than other types. This is supposed to be equalized if the dyno operator corrects the numbers to correlate to the SAE standard.
Every dyno pull done at my tuner is always done to SAE, but that is not an industry standard. Consequently comparing "apples to apples" is sometimes difficult.
I find that the dyno is best used when analyzing relative changes to your vehicle when adding modifications. Therefore, if you truly want to be scientific and objective about it, you should always do a "before and after" pull in order to fairly analyze progress.
