Default Bullets or Rte.66??

Hated the stock exhaust since day one, pathetic sounding and those tips are sad.
My ride:2006 C6 automatic
Going to go with B&B 4.5" quad oval tips. Thinking of the bullets but concerned about drone. For those who went with bullets, are you happy with your choice? how bad is the drone, can it be fixed and how does the exhaust sound.

Opinions on the route 66 would also be appreciated.

I have the Rt.66`s and i would tell you if drone is a problem that you are concerned about, DON`T GET THE BULLETS,i have some drone with my setup and its between 1500-1900rpms,its easy to stay out of it and it sounds GREAT,but i could not even imagne the Bullets.

I went with the B&B Route 66s too, and I love them.

If you want a deep, American muscle-car sound, and outstanding appearance, I recommend B&B products.

The Route 66s have very little drone. Bullets are much louder. Your choice, but either are great.

I also got the X-Pipe which definitely improves the flow and reduces popping, but still allows a nice, healthy gurgle between shifts and while decelerating. If you might add headers in the future, though, you can save $s by running the stock H-Pipe for now.

I have the bullets and kooks on top of that... Lots of drone! BUT I'm used to it and cannot even feel it anymore. The sound is amazing! I would not change this combo as BULLETS + KOOKS= SOUND OF POWER

Hi Kevin,

I'm from Calgary. Maybe we'll run into each other at some Vette events or track days. I have an '06 C6 Z51 MN6 Velocity yellow.

I had the BB Route, Dynatech headers, x-pipe, LPE CAI and custom tune done to my car by Davenport. The Route 66 is as loud as I would want to go. There is still drone from 1500 to 1900 rpm. Sound is awesome. Quite a bit of noise in the cockpit while cruising, but maybe I'm just getting old. Loud enough to interfere with listening to the radio.

Davenport had a display at our auto show. Seemed to know their stuff.
Probably going to get all my mods. done at Davenport, nothing up here in Edmonton except for little shops doing rice rockets.

Read some posts that claim you can't hear the radio or carry on a conversation when cruising with Bullets. True? or an exaggeration.

Thanks.

If you hate stock then you probably won't like the Route 66. At idle it is same decibel level as stock. I have Bullet PRT. It has deep muscle car sound and much louder than stock at idle and reasonable at WOT (nowhere near as loud as Bullet). There is a fair amount of drone though. If you take a lot of long trips, the drone can be VERY annoying. It's a tradeoff. Corsa has no drone. I just don't like the sound of it.

Had never heard about the PRT. Did a bit of research.

Looks like the way to go with the bullets. Thanks for the info.

If you are going to add headers down the line you definitely want the rte 66. I have the rte 66 and ARH's the sound is great at all rpms does drone at 1500 but with the M6 it is easy to shift around.

I have the borla touring and it's pretty nice at WOT and my wife rode with me today for the first time since install and she complained that I took a nice care and make it noisy.

I did't have the heart to tell her that I was not happy with the sound, wanted more noise, and that I had already ordered the B&B BULLETS. I guess I will have to put the stock mufflers back on if she takes a trip with me. I guess I need to take her on a full blown ride to make sure she does not want to go a a trip with me......

You might want to try adding a CAI and headers to your car before you decide to add an exhaust. The CAI and headers will add hp and torque to your car, and they will really make the stock exhaust sound louder too. You might just decide that you don't need a new exhaust. I'm sure you probably know this, but just changing the exhaust will do VERY little if anything for power.

Stock too quiet.

Bought bullets off this forum.

Bullets too loud.

Sam had Rte 66 and wanted to trade for bullets. We traded.

Sam wanted loud; Sam is happy.

I wanted happy medium between stock and loud; I'm happy.

Bullets and headers? I cannot imagine that sound unless it is on a pure race car.

I run route 66s, 4 inch quad round on my A6 2006 Coupe. Their is significant drone between 1400 and 1700 rpm, depending on engine load.

Highway @ 75-80 mph is just way too loud, so I just keep it in 5th, tachs around 2100 or so, Not bad, just a few mpg sacrifice.

I plan to go with some type of sound insultation mat to take some of the edge off.

My recommendation would be to find someone with the setup you are thinking about going with...nothing beats sampling the real thing.

Good Luck

Its not true in my case, I have the bullets with an automaic and there is a drone, but you can still talk and listen to the radio.. Being honest thats about as loud as i want to go though.. It must really be noisy when you have headers and the bullets together..
