Default C6 muffler--sound

I have a 06 6sp. I have been told that a Magnaflow #14336 muffler will provide a much improved sound without negs. No new power--just sound. Any better ideas??

Yes they sound better. You can get them installed for a total cost on the order of 300 bucks or less parts and labor. The down side is they will drone between 1600 and 2000 rpm's. I know I had them and ended up selling them and going back to stock. I run headers with stock mufflers sounds pretty good and no drone. If you are worried about drone and want sound go with the Corsa's.

My LG's and Borla's sound just right!
Loud on acceleration and burbly on back pressure.

The 14336 Magnaflows are a good choice but you need an experienced welder to do it right. the list price or the mufflers is VERY high, shop around. Tips are also VERY expensive and using the stock tips negates any flow gains.

I used the 2.5/2.5 Magnaflows and the Magnaflow single tips. Total installed was about $350. Car sounds very nice, looks different but does have a drone at 1600-1800 rpm in 6th gear. Personally, it doesn't bother me and my GF has never mentioned it... and she WOULD if it was that bad.

Great mod with no Vette tax. Key issue is get a good welder to do the mod.

I have them. Louder than stock, sounds nice but they do drone at 1600 or so. They are certainly cheap and I like the factory tips.

They aren't loud enough to suit me, so I put these on. I'm happy now, I have best of both worlds. Quiet at 5 am and LOUD at the track.

The Flowmaster American Thunder system for C6 is a bolt on in the sub $400.range as well.If you don't like it and want to move up the ladder, there appears to be a ready market to resell them.I have an '05 MN6 and really dig the sound.Other than a ram air system, and the Flowmasters my car is stock, and I don't notice any significant drone.

Me too. Top down, they sound great. Top up, with Crazy Cowboy's insulation kit (www.ExoticVettes.com) the tone is mellowed out just right.
