The impression that I am under is that it is not easy nor is it
inexpensive. I have seen this question posted before and there
are others who will chime in and talk specifics but I do recall reading that even the windshield is a different part number. Have you run a search on the topic? Good luck. Sounds like this is something you would really like to do I hope that I'm wrong.

I've noticed my windshield has a part number and verbage on specifically for HUD. So, you prolly have to replace that as well. Its not really anything that cool anyways. I don't really use it but it does impress the chicks. Plus it gives you an excuse to pull them over in your lap to see the display. In all seriousness, it gets old and its no big deal.

Jim at Rydells will do the HUD for $1000 installed (parts/labor), he's a GM body shop and works mostly on vettes. he owns one himself. I got my Z06 rears installed there and he offered me the HUD...
He says the wiring swaps right in.

Wow, that's not too bad. I'm in NorCal, but it might be worth a drive down for it!
