Default Help With Battery Terminal

This is going to be the stupidist questions I've ever asked.

Trying to get the neg. battery cable off. On all of my other cars, you just loosen the nut and pull the sucker off.

On the new vette (and others?), looks like there is a little tabbed shroud (which snugs it up to the post) that fits over the bolt. I've taken the nut off, but can't figure out how to loosen up the shroud. Do you bend the little ear or "tab" up and wiggle off or is this d.... thing just for looks and just wiggle it off as it is. Seems to me that it won't be tight around the post when you put it back on, if you just do it that way.

Thanks. Help!! Just don't want to take it off incorrectly.

Pop the nut off, wiggle the terminal free. the nut is chamfered at the bottom and will draw the clamp tight when you put it on again. No worries.

Thanks Bill,

Just appeared to have to be loosened so it would go on tight again. . . these new fangled things.

Not a good sign to start my install, when I can't even figure out how to get the cable off, huh.

Mine must be different than everyone else's. Can't get it off for nothing. Can't believe it. And what's even harder to believe, the chevy dealerships service guys, don't have a clue either.

If anyones up to it, please pm me, before I go shoot the VR.
