Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the owners manual advise against towing? I seem to recall reading that it does.
The owners manual of most of the cars I've owned warn against towing yet all did the job with no problems. The C6 is a great car but is a car, not a trophy to be put on a shelf.

Yes it does. For the life of me though, I can't understand why a 400hp, 400lbs-ft, rear-wheel drive car with a full steel frame couldn't safely tow up to 2,000lbs (Class I).
One issue with towing would be tongue weight. The C6, being a two passenger car with not much trunk space is not designed to hold a lot of weight in the rear (unlike most other vehicles designed to take anywhere from 2 to 6 passengers and a large trunk load of stuff). The rear suspension of the C6 will have less acceptable range / travel than other vehicles. As well, the C6 is already too low to the ground, any extra weight pushing it down would only be a very bad thing. So, I'd think that if someone were to hook up a trailer with decent tongue weight, it would be a problem. However, a small light trailer with very little tongue weight would perhaps not be a problem.
Yes, the C6 has a steel frame... but it is a fairly light steel frame. It is not designed for towing. Remember, Dave Hill and the crew designed this car to be as LIGHT as possible for racing... so that design goal does not go hand in hand with towing.
If a trailer is absolutely necessary, I like the suggestion to use a motorcycle type trailer... I think that would be ok. After all, the C6 is pretty much a 4-wheeled motorcycle anyway.
I towed the same boat behind 4 different vehicles. Around 125#'s tongue weight. The Dakota bumper dropped 3", the 4Runner dropped 2", the Firebird really dropped, I had to add air shocks, the 'Vette drops less than an inch.
I don't tow the boat with the 'Vette, just took it to one meet to aggravate some of the purists. It tows fine thru 4th gear, 5th and 6th are useless and reversing is a problem cause I can't see anything.
OK, I went to Academy (southwest chain of sporting good stores) and picked up two light weight chairs (7.99 each in Texas flag pattern), an 8X10 canopy shelter (18.99) and a new coleman stainless cooler that fits nice and will not leak and holds ice for days. All weigh less than 25 pounds total. Have two soft side travel bags and I won't need a trailer hitch.
Might have to turn my underwear inside out to get two days out of them....... but good to go.
Nice one! Also like the post above about losing 50 hp immediately. Small trailer sounds reasonable, but there's just something wrong about it- like scratching an itch for your buddy on his back. EEEESH, just can't do it and don't even ask. Trailer-same thing, but what the hell do I know.
I think he was saying he'd rather have stains on underwear from not being able to carry a change than actually having a trailer to bring an extra change of underwear. But anyway, point is well taken.

Naa. People give me cr&p all the time about using my Vette to tow a trailer. I like giving it back when I can! Usually something about "waxing off" with their Vette.
Hey! Where are you allowed to race a convertible without a rollbar?!? I'm dyin to know.
HPDE depends on the club, not the track, we have 2 down here in FL that allow it. Drag racing depends on the track. NHRA allows it down to 11.5 under the "Pure Stock" rules, more or less so long as you don't have any power adders you are fine. Not all tracks follow that advice though some are more strict.

This is one time where the overly stiff Z51 springs might pay off. It takes 1370 pounds to cause the rear suspension to deflect one inch.
