Hi folks, need to confirm paint code on 2006 Monterey Red coupe. The glove box code is 3 digits (U301) and i believe the code is only 2 digits. ??
The usual reference site stops information at 2005 and Monty Red is availble only on '06 and '07; discontinued for '08 it appears.
Thanks

It depends on your intended use for the code...if you want to get paint mixed at a DuPont paint store, the glove box code (U301), is the one you need. The other code, 80U, is a marketing and manufacturing code used only by GM...once the car is ordered and built, 80U has no further purpose.

Thanks guys, you have explained the code confusion. I am buying Caravaggio race seats and will paint the backs to match the exterior color now that I have the code information.
Saw your picture, hope you enjoy the car, the Monty Red waxed and shined is a gorgeous car in the sunlight. I was at an event with about 75 Corvettes all years and colors and received what appeared to be more compliments on the car than any other car there. Still get frequent comments out and about after year and half driving it. Of course, all I did was order it, GM designed and painted the car, but I'll take compliments any way I get 'em!
Just an FYI, There were some 2005 Corvettes painted Monterey Red also, paint code 80U but is is referred to as "Red Jewel" but it is Monterey Red.
I have 1 of only 359 Convertibles in that color. They were late production 2005.
Ditto
a little clarity
Monterey Red ( Red Jewel 80U 2005 ) 06, 07 yes but not the same color, 05 premium paint and was a tri- coat. GM decided it was too expensive and changed to a 2 coat for 06 and 07. Parked side by side in shade look alike, in bright sun 05 has a definite pop . Interesting side bar, now days when paint is cancelled its gone, in 06 some Red Jewel 80u was still around and instead of throwing it away GM used it up. there are a few Unicorn early 06's out there in Red Jewel 80U.
