This is the simplest way to put it,when you slam the gas pedal to the floor,you would think that you are getting all the power-but your not.The computer steps in and reduces the giving power to save parts. The jeep grand cherokee srt8 is a great example,when that truck slams the pedal down in first gear,it is only getting 75% of its throttle on demand,not 100%. Hope this helps

Torque Management (TM) sets an upper limit to the amount of torque the engine can apply to the drvieline. If the applied torque goes above the specified number (in newton-meters) TM pulls spark advance and can reduce the throttle. The intent is to limit shock to the driveline components.
GM can make the car lighter, reduce cost, and reduce breakage by sizing the driveline to handle 99.9% of driving conditions, and having the computer protect parts during the remaining .01%.
Drag racers say that TM causes a loss of one or two tenths in a quarter.
The main time TM comes in to play is during the shock of a hard shift. Note: there is no torque sensor, it is a calculated number. If you up the horsepower, you can break parts with abandon.
Some people don't care for it but I think it is a brilliant solution. You already have the computer so it doesn't cost any extra money (besides programming) and saves a lot of money in original design, procurement, warranty etc.

.Most (if not all) modern cars use this.
Motorcycles (with electronic fuel injection) are the same.
Full throttle does not necessarily mean Full Throttle… Can be a good thing…
You want more power? Turn OFF the traction controll, you'll see what your car can do.

I always turn my tc off when the roads are dry. The car is just so much more fun to drive that way. However, I wouldn't dare turn it off when the roads are wet/damp as I have experienced that one first hand. It works so well and so quickly, it just blows my mind. There really is a big difference as far as sotp when tc is off. I love it!

I believe you can buy an HP Tuner and raise the limit on the TM to overcome this. In fact you can raise it so high that TM is not an issue any longer. I could be wrong but I believe thas how they get around the TM issue.

GM's cost savings again. It's cheaper to program a computer to pull power than it is to design and manufacture a stronger driveline. Unmodified cars are already past the original HP/TQ limits of the trans and differential. We still have the basic '95 design/'97 production trans and diff. but much more HP/TQ than a '97 LS1 C5. Maybe it's time for new design, even if it's bigger/heavier/more expensive?

not bad. i'm back to driving with all off. (ah/tc off). so much more fun.
you going next year for the 50th ? if they give away those little cars with the program, like they've been doing, it will be jr.'s year. this year it was the 07 car in the program so the next would be the 08. i'm trying ... but i slip up every once in awhile.

I sure plan on it, just love the atmosphere during that event. Sure was nice meeting a lot of the forum members.
