Thought I`d share a fix that worked!!! After reading many posts about "creaking' tops...the one that said "the only contact of the roof to the car is the weatherstiping' made sense to me. I used a thin film of SUPERLUBE....rubbed on with my fingers...voila...the creaks stopped!!! (be sure to rub on the rear wetherstrip too...when I only put it on the front first, the front creaks stopped, but I had a "pop" from the rear when backing out of my driveway...put it on the rear also and all QUIET~) SUPERLUBE ia a teflon based gel like lubricant which doesn`t attract dust, dirt, etc.I also had the "chattering" gear shift **** so while I was at it...I loaded the gear shift **** with the same lube...wiping away the excess as I pushed the **** on...to my surprise...NO MORE Chatter!!!

Is this the product - http://www.plumbingsupply.com/lube.html and where did you buy this??? My solid panel is tight and squeek/rattle free, but my Lexan top I bought after the fact makes an annoying "squeek" or "rubbing" sound right by my right ear where the window seats into the weather stripping. It drives me crazy when I have the windows up. I can make it stop by pressing on/around the weather stripping.
I removed the glass top and went back to the solid panel because of this.
HI tom, thats the stuff....worked for me!! I own a hardware store and have carried this product and used it for many things...has the consistantsy of toothpaste/gel. i only rubbed a dab for the whole front and a dab for the whole rear...totally stopped the annoying creaks which always happened whenever I would drive over bumps.gator

Cool, aside from buying on-line, do auto parts stores like Advanced Auto etc or Home Depot etc sell this stuff??
Yep, he's right. Teh dealer replaced bu plastic guides as there is a TSB for them. When he did so, he told me I will eventually hear creaking and to greases the rollers and metal plate on the latch. Sure enough, I did and its been very quiet.
try a hardware store,i sell it so i would think there are others...instead i`m sure any gel type lube would work too...like di-electric grease for instance...you only need to rub a small ammount well into the rubber...not enough that you can it except that there is a very thin coating...

Geez, I have a tube of Dielectric Grease made by Permatex in the garage left over from my C4 days. That was the recommended lube to help keep the C4's weatherstriping from premature aging.
