Hey guys i'm new to the forum and just bought my first Vette recently. I had this very same problem [Service Traction System] and began reading to see if anyone else has had this same problem. The first thing i did was replace the mass air-flow sensor and thought that did the trick but sure enough i got the same thing again. My local Chevy dealer doesn't have a clue and claims they can't diagnose the problem cause i replaced the blose stereo but they won't listen to reason when i explain to them that the car was having the same problem before i touched the damn stereo. I also read here about a harness in the steering column and or a bad wheel sensor causing similar symptoms.
Are you getting Reduced Engine Power at the same time?
If so, you need to get it into the dealer while you are having this problem.

Yes reduced engine power and no speedometer neither on the HUD nor the dash. And if i let it sit over night the next morning it will be fine for maybe a day or two or as little as a few starts. The dealership i took it to says they can't do anything unless i reinstall the Blose system back and i got the feeling that they really didn't want to work on it. And they're the nearest "Vette speacialist" go figure. I guess i'll have to try this other Chevy dealership in my area.
By the way is yours fixed and where was the loose ground? It really sounds like that could cause this problem cause its got to be something electrical. I read on another post that while replacing the turn signal bulbs it activated the Service traction system and turned out to be he hadn't seated the bulb in properly, go figure.
My speedo has always worked - so thats a little different.
If I let mine sit for a couple of hours, it has aways started working again. I will have to look at the paperwork at home to give you specific details on the repair, but i believe it was something behinf the tire - maybe an electronic brake module? I will post more details later.
I was getting the problem every 2-3 k miles that i drove.
I have only gone a few hundered miles since repair - so dont know if its fixed yet. I do know that the problem they fixed is the 1st Ive heard, so i doubt yours is the same. did u see the post where it talks about the telescopic steering wheel causing the same problem?

it says 3 attempts for repait must be made in 2 years or 18000 miles, whichever is 1st. or the car must be out of service 20 calendar days or more. hopefully my car is fixed now because next month will be 2 years.
Well the repair did not work. the other day i received the reduced engine power, traction control again after driving about 1/2 mile from my house. had to turn around and get the other car. was mighty pi$$ed too cause i was on my way to the shore on a BEAUTIFUL day.
This is the 4th time the car has been in for the same exact problem and major repairs have been attempted twice - unsuccessfully.
I had a "service traction control" warning that popped up frequently, but I did not check the code. There was a definite change in handling when the warning came on. The dealer replaced a sensor in the steering column a month ago and no more STC warnings since.
ok. they narrowed it down to a faulty potentiometer in the gas pedal and the it was replaced. hopefully this is the last i will see of this problem. will let u now
I'm still getting the STC warnings also and along with the reduced power my speedo gauge and HUD do not register either. Are any of you also experiencing any other wierd symptoms along with the reduced engine power?
