I have a Z-51 -- with mods am just starting to find a small bit of wheel hop. (Any is too much.) Anyone with a Z-51 with this mod...did the Bilstein Sports help or stop wheel hop???
I got the Bilstein sports for the wheel hop reason. It was cold out for back to back testing and I would say it cured about 90% of the wheel hop. With warmer weather, no wheel hop so far. The runcraps just don't do well, regardless, when cold out. I thought the ride would be harsher as well but it hasn't been. Rides better in my opinion, handles the bumps with less issues. I'm happy.
I put the Bilstein sports on my Z51 and I'm planning to change to the Konis because I find the ride too busy and harsh. Maybe on a track they would be better.

could you please explain "too busy and harsh" are the bilsteins a lot firmer than the z51's, is cornering and handling improved? do you think the stock z51's are firm and harsh also? I'm debating the bilstein sports so would like to hear, thanks.

I just put them on....wheelhop is still there. Did they help?? NOT very much. I feel I should have saved my $300 and waited for coil overs

great feedback, sounds like the consensus is favorable for the bilsteins sports on the z51, my mod list just got longer
is this a reasonable diy project, i've done brake pads before but never shocks?
Yes, but it took me 4 hours to do the front and 3 hours for the rear. The Z51 shocks are gas also and very hard to compress when on the car. Getting the shocks off the car is by far the hardest part.
Does anyone know how a bilstein upgrade from Z51 would compare to the pfadt coilover upgrade available on west coast corvettes website?
Here's the main difference: My car with pfadt coil overs, set at 12 (a relatively stiff setting), would zoom past a Z51 with bilsteins only through a turn.

Thanks for the reply. Just wanted to let you know that there are ALOT of posts that say otherwise in this thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=pfadt
not to say that you are wrong. At this point i don't know what to believe..

I just experienced wheel hop a few days ago, probably due to the added horsepower. I would like to correct this problem asap, so that I could enjoy my C6 without thinking about breaking something. Anyway, I was in first gear, went hard into second gear subsequently the car began to wheel hop. I immediately backed out because it sounded like I was about to break the whole rear end. If I could cure this problem 90% as you did then it appears that the Blistein sports work. My only concern is the wheel hop. I don't care much about the handling. Thanks for your response.
Went with the sports also (over Z51). Rides a little stiffer, handling is improved. I had a leaky OEM (out of warranty) and decided to switch the whole thing over to Billies.
Personally, I'm waiting for the budget to allow for the Koni FSD's as my replacement for the Bilst's...

Prior to my Bilsteins, my car was wheelhoping bad at the track. I had to let out on several passes to avoid some breakage. The Bilsteins helped in that regard. There was some wheel hop but not like before. I haven't had any wheel hop on the road but I don't leave hard from a light like I do at the track. So far so good for me.
