Default 05 Rear End Optons? C5 conversion?

Friends 05 Heads and Cam M6 split the case again dealer fixed it last time but wont fix it again.

He has been to the drag strip twice and broke it both times(BFG KDW's).

What are his options

Stock?

Stronger?

Strongest?

He has an C5 rear what does the conversion take?

I have an 05 as well and once I scrape up the cash, I am probably buying a DTE rear end. I would also like to hear the inputs on this one.

You guys need to do a search because we have beat this to death and some of the vendors get a lil touchy when guys like me give our opinions on the subject. I have a C5 rear in my 05. Call Cartek and ask for info as well as do a search here to find what I've said before on the subject. In my opinion, until the iron cases are available, I feel the best solution is a C5 rear and a set of Bilstien sport shocks if he is cracking cases due to stress and not do to internal failures. You can have forged titanium internals but they won't keep from the case cracking and puking the pinion out the rear.

Oh, and Cartek did my conversion and did a perfect job. It looks factory.

For the original poster, on an 05 the C5 rear is a direct bolt upto the tranny. You need to fabricate a mount to accept the mounting configuration for a C5 as well as shave the C5 case a bit to clear the spring. Not something the average guy can do in the garage. The mount requires some serious TIG welding.

I dont want anyone to go to cartek and get the conversion because then they will have a strong rear that is able to keep up with me. Get strong internals with a pretty C6 case that will break so I can win all the time.

Cartek's conversion is the sheet.

Pimpin' Dave too.
