This is all interesting, but I must ask, how many other C6's have had their axles snap in two in the same manner / same spot? It seems to be a somewhat isolated case. I also must question if it is related to the fact that the car has been modified for increased power, and thus not necessarily a function of 118 pounds of torque on the axle nut specifically. Or maybe just real bad luck with two defective axles...? Just an observation.
Or maybe the 118 pounds on the nut combined with lots of extra horsepower and hard launches finally just rips the shaft apart. But if that's the case, then I'd think the axle would fail eventually anyway, even without the 118 pounds on the nut. The 118 pound nut would just cause it to fail a little sooner. (?)
