I was under the impression these were run flat but when I spoke to the Firestone dealer today about ordering some he told me that they were not so can some one shed some light on this
Thanks
Go to another dealer. Firestone's website says they have runflats
FDrom the Tire Rack. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT w/UNI-T is Firestone's Ultra High Performance Summer run-flat tire developed exclusively for the drivers of Chevrolet C6 Corvettes. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT is designed to provide temporary mobility in the event of complete air loss due to a puncture, along with responsive handling and traction in dry and wet conditions. The Firehawk Wide Oval RFT is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.
I have them. They ARE runflats. (and they're SPECTACULAR -- to borrow from a Seinfeld episode)
But, don't expect a Firestone dealer to know anything. All of the Firestone dealers (and I called 6 of them in my area) were all worthless for information. (GY dealers around here were no better btw).

BTW I had the C5 Z06 version (non-run flat) and they were superior to the GY F1 SC OEM tires. I'll be replacing my Z51 SC tires with these as soon as possible.
I am convinced that all tire dealers are idiots. Before I ordered my Firestone RFTs from Tire Rack, I called some local dealers to see if they'd price match. NONE of the Firestone dealers I called (4 in all) knew that these tires existed, one basically told me that Tire Rack was selling me a bunch of goods, like a bait and switch. I called Tire Rack, and the next business day four brand new Firestone run-flats were delivered to my door.

Shawn
You should have made him a bet that if you got them, he would mount and balance them for free!
For those that have replaced their rear tires did you replace the front tires or keep the original tires? Is there any issue with having Firestones in the rear with goodyear tires upfront?
I have wide ovals on my 01 and I think the tread wear is horrible. with 1000 miles significant tread wear is obvious. Id say i am gonna' get 10k tops on the rears, and I do zero burn outs.
Most of the problem with the names of the tires is the Company advertising, not the local shop. Corporate is selling a name (a perception) not a tire.
Firestone Dealers may be confused on the Wide Oval but Goodyear is doing the same thing with the Supercar name. Supercar EMT isn't the same tire as the Supercar.

What's the treadwear rating on the Fstones? How does it compare to the GYs? Although it will be a while before I buy tires, next set is going to be good for 20K+ based on treadwear for me.

Then you arent getting the wide ovals. Based on what I see with my own set, 12-15k tops.

I see you had the same problem I had with my C5 - rear tires just weren't of the same quality as the fronts and wore out quicker
Some will tell you not to do it. But I put Yokohama's on the back while the original GY's were still on the front of my C5. Both pair were runflats. No problems here.
