Had the friction additive and new gear lube done about six weeks ago; now the noise is back. Do you guys recommend the new clutch packs? Is anything in there going to be harmed if I do nothing. Has anybody heard of solving the problem permanently with an aftermarket gear lube? Thanks in advance for any input you can provide.
If it's still under warranty, let the dealer fix it.
They did the additive "fix" first and then replaced the rear diff.
Had a trailblazer as a loaner vehicle for 8 days.
It took the dealership eight days to replace the clutch packs in your rear differential?
Took it in on a Monday, diagnosed problem, ordered entire rear diff assembly, received it on Thursday, finished it on Monday. Picked it up on Wednesday.
There were 4 others in there getting the same treatment.
Way back when I had my C6 Z51, I had it to the dealer twice for the same thing, the first time they did the GM fix of drain and additive, the second time they put a synthetic fluid in the rear and no problem. I don't remember what it was but I think it was something other than the GM fluid. If all else fails, buy a Z06, you won't have that problem.
