160° thermo doesn't cool the A/F temp., there is no connection between coolant temp and A/F temp. LS2 intake manifolds are not plumbed for coolant. The computer pulls timing from coolant temp, by running the 160° t'stat you reduce the coolant temp below the temperature set to pull timing. The computer also pulls timing from intake air temp but that is helped by a CAI, not a 160° t'stat.

Your right, but I meant the heads will be cooler, due to the lower thermostat. This will make for a cooler combustion chamber, and cooler pre-ignition fuel mixture.
