Default What mods?

Ok all here it is , Got a great deal on a base O7 vette. Wanted one with a Z51 pack on it but was not worth the 5K the dealer would not come down on. SO that leaves me with the base model. Now dont get me wrong on this its a great car, but as with most of us I want MORE!

Not going race it just want to have the grab you in the seat car. Where should I start?
new shifter?
exhaust?
Lower rear end gears?

My first vette and have not done the performance thing since my 70 ss Camero back in the late 80's. Dont want to put any more in the car then about 2-3k if even that. And will be doing it over time as money allows.

Any advice would be a help .

Thanks all!

There aren't a lot of perfomance mods you can do that won't adversely affect your warranty so decide how important your warranty is before you modify it.

Frankly, the base C6 as-is will "grab you in the seat." I suggest driving it for at least a little while before you rush to mod it. An after market exhaust or a shifter are nice modifications but they won't do much to make your car go faster. Changing the rear end gearing wouldn't be my choice but others like this mod. Warranty notwithstanding and considering the budget, perhaps a CAI, headers and a tune. Maybe save up and put in a SC or turbo.

I agree, enjoy the car for a bit....then when the mod bug completely takes over go for intake, headers, tune, and exhaust....that will leave you in the nieghborhood of you budget.

Definitely enjoy the drive for a while.

If you'd like a little more power down the road, my ported factory parts will fit your requirements well. As they are modified stock parts that retain 100% stock outward appearance as installed, you can breeze through any warranty issues you may encounter. Not a single customer has ever mentioned a warranty denial or even a question at the service department I like that!

SAGE advice, Wayne. Headers, catbacks (for the sound alone!) and a tune - $3000, and NO impact on warranty.Throw in a CAI for another $400, and you will be thrilled!
