Default Magnaflows

Have narrowed my search down to the Magnaflows for my C6. Does anyone know where to get the best price or any discount codes for Corvette Forum members?

Thanks,

Patrick

I don't know, but do you know if Magnaflows also supplies the high flow cats?

For the same performance and sound get the Magnaflow mufflers and have them welded in your stock tubes. Mine was $300 total after install, added some $50 tips and it looks and sounds awesome. Do a search on the fourm and you will find lots of info and part numbers....

Default Drone

You've gotta be kidding. I've been searching and searching to find a system that doesn't drone and I thought I found it. Will it drone if I buy the entire system or just if I add the muffler only?

I don't know about the system. But the mufflers only mod drones. Believe me. I had Borla Stingers on my h/c C5 so I know drone....... and these drone too. Not as bad as the Stingers but they don't sound as good as Stingers either. They are better than stock and cheaper than a system. I do wish they didn't drone, it's a pain when I have a business luncheon trying to carry on a conversation on the highway.

But I was unhappy enough with them (not loud enough and still droney) to go with these in addition. Now I have relatively quiet and loud when I want.

I have a manual also and had the 14336 mufflers as well, but after I put headers on the car it was just unbearable especially at highway speeds in 6th gear. It was just like turning your car into a truck. I put the stock mufflers back on and they sound pretty good with the headers. I agree that 1K plus is not worth it, the money is better spent on performance improvements, not noise makers.

Default No Drone!

I've had my Magnaflows for almost a year and I absolutely love them--NO drone at all--my wife loves the car, too, and has no issues riding in it for extended periods. Actually, I'm wishing that it was a bit louder, to be honest. I don't want BB loud, that's for sure.

I actually might sell my MF setup for just that reason--in fact, the thing that givs me pause is the fact that I have no drone right now!

I am refering to the magnaflow mufflers only 14436 set up. I didn't try the Magnaflow catback system. I would think if it uses the 14436 mufflers that it would have resonance issues as well.

I have tried both the weld-in Magnaflows as well as the full catback system. The weld-in's droned bad enough that I removed them quickly. The catback system is perfect, just awesome, even with headers. In this case, you get what you pay for.

I've had the opportunity to hear both the mufflers only and the full system. When I first got my car, first thing I did was the weld-in mufflers mod. They sound nice but they do drone. I've since switched to several other systems, but I did drive a friends car who had the actual magnaflow catback system. The system has no drone whatsoever. The thing is that its VERY quiet outside the car also. Basically what the system will do is keep the car at stock sound levels, but it will change the TONE of the exhaust to a much deeper and nicer sound. So if you just want to change the tone, this will work, if you wanted something louder, the system will probably not do for you. Hope this helps some.

Another vote for the full Magnaflow catback. I had this installed about 300 miles ago. No drone.

Seems like a lot of others with the mufflers only experience drone, I am just providing regarding my experience. No BS the drone was terrible between 1600 and 2000 rpms.

Thanks guys, you've been a big help. Now comes the fun part. I found a great internet price but can't find someone to install the system. Seems that everyone where I live wants to make money not only on the install but the parts as well. They don't like the idea of buying them elsewhere.

If you are buying the cat back setup it should be an easy install by yourself. An extra set of hands is good if you have some one to help.

I've got LG Pro long tubes, high flow cats, and the Magnaflow axle back. There is a resonance at 1500 rpm in my car. I am very sensitive to it, but I like the sound so much at other rpms and at cruise on the highway that I will probably leave them on the car. The long tubes with the stock mufflers didn't do anything for me. I can hear the engine with the Magnaflows, so the little bit of resonance I have I may just live with.
