Default Good "How To" publications?

Does anyone have recommendations of good books for learning how to perform general maintenance (brakes, fluids, etc) on the C6?

I'm definitely an amateur mechanic. I haven't worked on my own cars in 25+ years but I very much enjoy doing what work I can on my Corvette. I do know enough not to get-in over my head.

I recently bought the Helm's Service manuals. While they're not a total DIY guide I find they are quite informative if not downright essential for many projects.

The more I do the more I'd like my own lift. I went to a man's house last week to balance my car and get it setup better for the track. I marveled at how nice having your own in-house lift is. Maybe I'll check Barnes and Noble to see if they have "Corvette Mechanics for Dummies."

All joking aside, I'd recommend the Helm's service manuals.

Thanks,

I'll check out those service manuals. I also agree that a lift would be really great! I'm looking for one that is relatively portable so I can take it with me when I move to Texas in a few years.

The ability to do much of my own maintenance (particularly on a future track car) is really attractive from a hobby perspective.

The General Motors Service Manuals from Hem Inc. are an excellent reference. However, some of the procedures in the manual are written for the "experienced technician". If one does not have some prior service background, some of the procedures may be lacking in details.
