I am ready to have headers installed on my C6 mn6 Z51. I called a very reputable shop in Colorado and was quoted 9-11 hours for a header install? I was told by a guy that lives here he installed them himself with the help of a lift in about two hours. So I figured they were trying to screw me and called another shop and they quoted me $570 to install a set of headers. Just headers. Tune and everything else was separate. $570 just for the header install?? Does this seem like a fair price? I would appreciate knowing what some of you have been charged or what some of you that work in the shops charge? Thank you for your input!!
If you havent already bought them consider buying from the shop that sells and installs them and get an all in price. If you go in for an install only their profit is the labor. Give them a sale and they get a merchandise AND labor profit and will often lower the price to you. For instance my local tuner here (Tom Wong, TJWong on the forum) will do the headers/install/tune for 2k if you give him the sale on the headers. If not its straight labor and standard price for the tune. Some of the bigger tuners here have had headers installed and tuned pricing sales on headers from time to time.
I paid $1750 for American Racing headers+install. I got a great deal imo. But as others have said, better to buy from a place that installs them as well, labor is significantly reduced as in my case.
