Default Twin Turbo Conversion In Progress :)

Hello All,

About two months ago I picked up a mn6 triple black 07 vert w/z51 at 8000 or so off list. I was close to buying a z06 at a great deal from Texas but if you've ever owned a convert, you know why that is so hard to give up. SO... I had an idea...

Put on a APS twin turbo kit, add CCW 505a wheels, caravaggio rear z06 and the rest gm z06 panels, you get the idea

Stage 1 has officially begun. Car is at www.exoticperformanceplus.com in columbia city, IN for install of APS TT kit. They will be adding the car in the coming week to their 'project car' part of the website. I am hyped!! They will install autometer 2 pod guage cluster with boost guage and a/f ratio gauge and a spec 3 clutch at the same time.

I have recv'd several of the new body panels already from Gene Culley, thanks Gene and the caravaggio rear panels are here as well. Thanks to John at CCW, I have already recv'd the MASSIVE 345 rear meats in Pilot Sport 2 (PS2) trim the fronts are almost as big as my stock rears

I have yet to pick up a few odds and ends, callaway shifter, caravaggio racing seats, yada yada yada

Thanks to the forum for all the great info, I couldn't have done it without you.

PS I live in the chicagoland area and need to get the new bumper, quarters, fenders, painted black. A local new car dealership quoted me $1200 if I just bring the pieces in (they are not very big) to paint them (not install or removal, just painting) Is that a fair price? Anyone have any recommendations of a GOOD painter in the greater chicagoland area?? Thanks

I don't have any advice on another painter for you since I am in NC, but I do think $1200 is a fair price for the paint.

I wish I had the money to convert my body panels. I'd like someday soon to do mine in a couple of steps, one to convert my body panels, then another to convert my wheels and brakes, hopefully I'll have the money next year for at least the body conversion. My problem is that since my car is Monterrey Red, my paint will cost quite a bit more than $1200. My color is a tint coat and a metal flake, so its hard to match.

Good luck with your build, I know I like my Twin Turbos.

Default thanks for the help

You gave some great tips regarding your twin turbo exp. thank you. I am fortunate to have the funds to do the widebody stuff, and rims, maybe it is not the most prudent thing to do, but it is fun. You only live once right?? I am 39 as of a few days ago, well first the 20's go, now the thirties, I want to go out in a blaze of glory I guess. My 99 C5 was Original Mag Red, premium tricoat, very candy apple red used for only two years VERY difficult to match, now, although black shows everything, you have to wash it all the time, matching is easy

I'll post pics as we move along, thanks again wewing for the tips

$1200 is CHEAP for the paint! I will warn you that they might upcharge you when they see the Caravaggio fenders. The amount of prep work needed is silly! What size fronts did you get?

Here's the latest power/torque graph of the APS ZO6 twin turbo system on a bone stock LS7 engine on 93 octane fuel at 6.5 PSI, enjoy!

Question:
What is the advantage of twin turbos with only 6.5 PSI of boost???
Also, why not forge the motor so you can run more boost? You are leaving hundreds of HP on the table...

Superior power and torque curve than a centrifugal blower.

You can forge the engine any any time (if you have the budget)...............to be frank, how much power and torque will the stock drive train cope with? That's unknown at this time so I'm very comfortable at this power/torque for the moment.
