Speed limiter

New to Corvette forum and this is my first corvette, a 2005 convertible 6 speed. I wanted to know if it had a speed limiter or chip that limited the top speed at a certain MPH ?

i recall someone telling me that the vert was speed limited to 145.

don't believe so, or gm wouldn't claimed 186mph top speed. i guess it is possible 186mph is the limiter but i seriously doubt it.

There is a lot of mixed information on this. I have an 06 vert 6sp manual, when I use my predator programer, there is a page or screen that indicates a speed limitter of 186.45 mph and an option to turn it off. IF you have one, it is probably 186 mph.

There is a limit that is set to 186 mph from the factory. I know that this can be seen and changed with LS2 Edit.

I believe Spinmonster tested this by lowering the value and the car would not go above the speed he put in.

I pulled my tune from the car and I can confirm that the top speed limiter is set to 186 and that is a stock tune. I have the ragtop.

I don't think it makes any difference if it's a convertable or a coupe.
The Z51 rev limiters are:

1st: 50mph @ 6500rpm
2nd: 72mph @ 6500rpm
3rd: 104mph @ 6500rpm
4th: 149mph @ 6500rpm
5th: 186mph @ 6500rpm
6th: 186mph @ 4700rpm

The base model is slightly different in the lower gears, but I think the top speed is the same.
