Help! My husband and I are new owners of an automatic,
1997 Corvette (Fairway Green). Unfortunalely we do not have an owners manual and need to purchase one. Today, when we went to start it, the message "check column wheel lock" came across the message screen. The wheels will not turn. Help!!

Do a search on Column Lock in the C5 section. As far as I remember, there has never been a definite reason given as to why it happens. It was commonly said about the column lock "It's not IF it happens, but WHEN it will happen." Many forum vendors sell a cheap fix for it called the column lock bypass (CLB). It is pretty easy to install - I did one on my old C5 - and will eliminate your column from locking in the future. Good luck.
