Anyone tried yet or estimate what the power gain would be if you swapped the LS2 intake on an 07 for an LS3 intake on an 08 and also add the new 08 airbox?

You would have to do more than an intake manifold swap as the port design is completely different. It would require the use of the cylinder heads as well.
Just changing the air intake system itself would require a wiring harness conversion for the new MAF connector, a new MAF sensor and new MAF tables in the computer to do so. The rest should bolt right up.

From what I've heard the 08 air filter box is the LS7 unit from the Z06.
You can add this to the LS2 if you want but will require reprogrammming of the ECM for the Hitachi MAF code. This is the same as adding the Halltech Killer Bee without the Killer bee airbridge and Filter. Its said to be worth a few HP to swap to the LS7 maf and filter. A little more with the killer bee.

Dyno tests in GM High Performance Tech magazine(or maybe one of the other 7 mags I get) did an intake comparison on using an LS2 shortblock with a 228ish cam, Lt's, etc...results of the comparison show the LS6 intake(even with its 78mm Throttle Body) to consistantly outperform the LS2 across the board. The FAST performed even better than the LS6 in both 78mm and 90mm versions. The FAST performed best with the LS2 90mm TB showing 20+ horsepower gains on the Engine Dyno. If you really want to squeeze all the horsepower out of your intake setup, you can have it ported by Tony Mamo or one of the few other genuine "Intake Gurus" on this forum. I opted for the "Mamo Ported" setup to replace my LS6 and ported TB and was most surprised and impressed with the increased throttle response from off idle and through the low to mid rpm's around town where you spend most of your time. Hope This Helps some and Good Luck with your mods
