We (my brother and I) are installing LG Headers and corsa exhaust on his C6 tonight. Do I need any special tools (like an O2 sensor socket).
Any tips to the install, seems pretty straight forward to me. Can I "slot" the outside header gasket bolt holes for an easy install?
See my thread a few down, the are some helpful hints. I am waiting for the UPS man as we speak
I'll be installing mine tomorrow - LG's/Borla Stingers
You WILL need an O2 Sensor socket. You can pick one up at any auto parts store. Cost is about 10 bucks.
Not sure about the slotting gasket question. I know what you are talking about, just don't know if its prudent to mess with the gasket.
I did not need/use a 02 sensor socket, just used a combination wrench. Did have some trouble removing the 02 from one of the stock manifolds but installing on the headers was not a problem (Kooks). So if you don't have a socket, just make sure to have a set of wrenches, I think it's a 21 MM but can't swear to it.
I did not slot the gasket, install was not a big problem.
I slotted the end bolt holes on the gasket, trying to hold the header with one hand and balance the bolt, gasket, header in the other can lead to a stripped bolt hole in the head (ask me how I know). I think it will make your life easier and shouldn't compromise gasket seal at all.
