Why wouldn't it? Cam duration dictates smoothness...not cubes. If anything, more cubes w/the same cam would make it MORE smooth.

I'm curious about the delayed spec reports too.

I haven't heard anything and I called one of the techs yesterday. The car the engine was in was damaged at Carlisle however.

Here are some numbers on the LS7 based 454 with a limited amount of tuning and very little break in so far

The kicker is the almost 500ftlbs at 2700 rpm. We will be running both vehicles with 454's in them at Barber this weekend. So stay tuned for track results.

Awesome numbers. I noticed you said LS7, though. Does that mean that the LS2 did not work for a 454 application? I was hoping to just work on my own block, not order a whole new engine. Or do I not understand what you did? Thanks!!!

Yeah it was originally an LS2 based 454 wasn't it, now it's an LS7 block?

We have both an LS7 based 454 and an LS2 based 454. The LS2 based 454 went on the dyno at the end of the day yesterday so stay tuned for the numbers from that setup.

The LS2 based 454 will probably be coming next week. Indeed the car was on the dyno last night but was only being tuned for drivability. No power pull were made due to the fact that it has a brand new diff and trans. After the break in is complete we will be able to do power pulls.

Seth - Is this going to be a package you guys at MTI will be offering for the LS2 folks as a short block exchange? I expect you have sparked a lot of interest. I'm curious how much stuff you can use off of my existing LS-2 on the new 454 motor since I just bought a cam with double springs and pushrods, FAST Intake Manifold, Headers, and Callaway Honker CAI. I certainly would be interested to see what kind of money it would take to go to a 454. Please keep up posted.

I'm guessing that just all the beefing up you will have to do in order to handle the power, it will be way out of my price reach. I see from Seth's message that it has a brand new differential and transmission. That has to be some major bucks just to do that. Look like it's going to certainly be a smoke show! If you need another LS2 test engine to modify to a 454, my car is available

Hey guys,

The weekend at Barber went great! Both the LS7 and LS2 454's performed wonderfully. For a writeup on the weekend check out the MTI Racing website, http://www.mtiracing.com/artmaverick...velocity4.html

You website shows the Extreme Velocity 454 to be $20K / $7.5K Core. Does that mean the upgrade is $20K minus the $7.5K you give the customer back for the LS2 core or do you have to start with an LS7 core? That part I do not understand. If that's the case $12.5K is a pretty good deal to get you to 700 HP or something around 595 RWHP. I also see this price assumes you have Stage I completed. I expect I have all that covered in my first mod?

Not something I would do right away since I just modded my Vette, but something to consider in the future! Pretty interesting mod!
