Hard to make a recommendation w/o your stating if you've got a manny tranny or an auto, and how much hp you're running. With 500+rwhp, I think my 427ci M6 is perfect with 3.90s, but if it was stock hp, or close, I would've went with 4.10s.
Original poster here... My car is a C6 coupe with 6 speed MT. I don't have any mods yet and it's very likely that I wont do much more than simple bolt-ons and perhaps a tune. Since we get better gasoline in Georgia than they have in Cali and other places, I understand that a good tuner can get a decent increase in power with something like HP tuners by tuning the car for the higher octane gasoline and perhaps a bit more aggressive timing and fule maps.
I think that I'll definitely get the gears because it seems that it's a great first mod that will really improve the performance of the car.... The only thing I need to know is where to get these gears and who is a good installer. I could try to get the gear set and just replace the originals in which case I would have the OEM gears to replace them if needed. I don't know how hard it would be how change the gears in the Vette... My buddy did his Mustang and he was ver successful. If the job is not too much more difficult, we could tackle ourselves. Otherwise, I can just buy a ready to install rear end and go that way.
It's very interesting to see that gears and rear ends for Corvettes are not nearly as plentiful as for other RWD muscle cars. The world is awash with rear ends and gears for old and newer muscle cars, but the Corvette stuff is notable for it's scarcity....
Phil(Dynotech) did it as part of the overall tune on my car. Since mine was the first 315 it was a custom tune. Phil had to do alot of pulls to do it but it sure does work well.
