My chatter is gone but I have this slight popping / clunking sound at low speeds, going straight over smooth or uneven surfaces. Sounds like a suspension bind, U-joint, differential back lash or ????
That does not sound good! Sure you got all the pieces that may have broken off?

There is no noise at speed, acceleration, etc. just from 5-30 mph or so.
This topic has been hashed out over on General for several weeks, several threads. Some say loose calipers, loose sway bars, some say dealerships can't pinpoint it, etc.
I've tightened every bolt in the rear, silicone sprayed every rubber bushing, check shock mounts, exhaust system and mounts, axle nuts, etc. noise is still there.

I'm reluctant to take mine in without a know fix.
Meant a small piece of the tip that you were using to add the fluid, but I think I misunderstood what you were describing, and I certainly agree with reluctance to take it in w/o knowing the fix. Hope you get it figured out.
did a bunch of tight turns and the noise is gone again.
Okay, makes sense now. I'm hoping that AMSOIL is the answer.
I hear that the 07s are having the same problem.
WTF does it take for GM to figure out this problem? I have heard that this has been a problem for over 10 years...GEEZ.
Has GM addressed these common issues in later 07's or 08's? Now I am concerned, since I just ordered an 08. . . . the last thing I need is another problem car. . .
1. Would overfilling the diff case help? It would raise the lube level.
2. Other than the noise, is it really a problem? It seems to go away as soon as I drive a short distance.
Don't "overfill" the diff. Hard to do, but I suppose you could..... It will increase pressures and will wind up coming out the breather and making a mess.

Fingers crossed for AMSOIL to be the true fix.
C5/C5 Z06 has had its fair share of diff problems, but not the same one's I'm reading about for the C6. Most C6 diff problems seem to be related to low speed, tight corner, clutch plate chatter, which is all but unheard of for the C5. The most common C5 problem seems to be a leaking left axle seal (which I had as well). I spend a lot of time on the GTO and CTS-V forums, and those cars seem to have diff whine as the major issue. Guess if it's not one thing, it's another.
